Bad Power Supply on a Dirty Custom PC

This older custom PC was reported as not booting after thunderstorms rolled through the area.  It had been hard to turn on for several days prior often taking several times before it would boot all the way up and into Windows.

Eventually it would not boot at all due to a failed power supply.  We were able to replace the power supply with a much higher quality version with a much larger fan that could better handle the heat generated by this older PC build.

As we always do when we get a computer in the shop, we opened the case and cleaned it up thoroughly inside and out.  There was several years old dust and built up on all the fans, heat sinks and surfaces inside.  This kept the computer from cooling correctly and may have let the the failure of the power supply.

If you have a computer with issues starting or not starting at all it may be due to a bad power supply.  Don’t let a bad power supply cause further damage to your computer and possibly cause a loss of data and important files.

Call us today to setup a time to have your computer cleaned and checked out.
