This HP Compaq computer was a bit older and hadn’t had regular maintenance in quite a while. The customer reported that it was running slow for a while and now started shutting down on it’s own.
As you can see from the before and after photos it was very dirty inside causing it to overheat and shut down to keep from doing damage to the motherboard and CPU. The CPU fan and heat sink were completely clogged with dust and not effective anymore. Once the dust has covered the fins on the heat sink the fan can no longer do it’s job. If this customer didn’t bring the computer in it would have eventually been damaged beyond repair.
We thoroughly cleaned the inside and outside of the PC to make sure there was proper airflow and it could cool effectively. We also replaced a fan that had been damaged by trying to work too hard to cool off the computer. Now it starts up and runs like new!
If it’s been a while since you have had your computer cleaned then give us a call! A little maintenance goes a long way in keeping your computer running as long as possible.
