It’s a Mac, Mac, Mac World

We are seeing more and more Macs this year with issues, upgrades and data transfers. We happened to have 3 similar iMac models in at one time: 2 for an upgrade from an older iMac to a newer iMac and 1 having software issues. We were able to transfer the user programs and data to the new iMac so that everything was exactly the same when they turned on the new machine. The 3rd iMac was reset back to factory and the latest version of MacOS was installed to get it back up and run

    Macbook Pro LCD Screen Replacement

This Macbook Pro came to us with a cracked screen. Due to the way Macbooks are constructed it’s necessary to change out the whole top of the laptop and not just the LCD screen. This customer received a few quotes around town that were significantly higher than the repair bill from us. We were able to replace the screen for several hundred dollars cheaper than other computer shops in town and do it with a quick turnaround. We saved the customer hundreds on the repair and a tho

    Dirty Computer Bonanza!

We have gathered some recent before and after photos from computers (PCs and Macs) that needed a good cleaning inside and out. The fans on these computers continuously draw in air, dirt and dust that will eventually clog vents and cause it to overheat. This reduces the lifespan of your devices and can cause premature failure, reduce speed and functionality. Your computer needs regular maintenance for the software and hardware. If your computer isn't running like it should bri

8 Yr Old Imac – Runs Better Than New with SSD Upgrade

This iMac was brought to us with the usual issues from a Mac of this age. The user reported that it was running very slow and the fans were loud. They wanted to know if they should spend the money to replace it or was there something that could be done to bring it back to life. The price of a new iMac could range from $1200 to well over $2000 for a top of the line machine. The truth is that most people don’t need the latest and greatest Mac to do the things they need to do on

    Mackeeper Removal and Ram Upgrade

A recent customer reported that their Macbook, though only a few years old, was starting to run slow and had some programs installed that they could not remove.  Although, historically, the Mac has been better at not getting virus infections, malware infestations and nuisance adware type programs, that has changed recently.  OSX is completely capable of getting infected either by a virus, malware, proxy redirect or just about any other issue a PC user would face. In this case

Failed Hard Drive and New Feet for Macbook

This customer had a Macbook that was only a couple years old but had been dropped a few times and had some wear and tear on the outside and inside. As a result, the hard drive had been damaged and refused to boot. The failed hard drive was so badly damaged no data could be recovered directly from the drive. There was also some visible damage on the outside along with a very common problem with Mac laptops, missing feet. We replaced the hard drive with a new solid state drive

Mac Mini Upgraded – SSD and RAM

This Mac Mini was a couple of years old and was due for some upgrades.  It was working OK, but was bogging down on videos and some common tasks.  We took a look and noticed that the RAM was low for today’s standards and also we could gain a large speed boost by upgrading the hard drive to a new SSD drive. We upgraded the RAM to 8GB of DDR3 laptop style memory and cloned the hard drive over to a new 500 GB solid state drive.  While the original computer came with 4GB of RAM it

Have a PC and Quicktime? Time to get rid of it quick!

If you have a PC and have QuickTime installed it’s time to get rid of it quick 🙂 Apple and the US government are telling customers with a Windows operating system that QuickTime is no longer being updated and has potential security issues that could let hackers into your computer. Quicktime was used as a video player in the past but hasn’t had a major update on the Windows side since 2005. On the Mac side it’s last major update was in 2009 and Apple will continue to support

SSD Upgrade for Dirty Older iMac

This older iMac was brought to us do to it being very slow when trying to open files or use any programs.  Initially the user thought that it was because their hard drive was full.  We ran diagnostics on the hard drive and determined the slowness was due to a failing, not full, hard drive. We could have replaced the hard drive with a slower traditional model but chose to upgrade it to a newer, faster SSD (solid state drive).  This gave the user plenty of space and had the iMa

Failing iMac Hard Drive Upgrade to Solid State Drive (SSD)

This iMac was very slow to boot up over 5 mins and would get the spinning rainbow pinwheel every time the user tried to do anything.  The slow, failing hard drive made the Mac basically unusable.  Opening an e-mail or webpage would take several minutes. We opened up the iMac and cleaned all the fans, backed up the current OSX install completely, installed a new SSD drive and put the all the customers data and programs back in place on the new drive.  The customer didn’t notic

iMac upgrade to Samsung SSD Hard Drive

This iMac had a failing, slow hard drive and instead of replacing it with a standard hard drive we chose to upgrade to a much faster Solid State Drive (SSD).  We cloned over the drive so that the user could pick up exactly where they left off with no need to re-install programs or data. This boosted the performance so that it was better than when the iMac was new. If you have a failing hard drive or just want a performance boost with your Mac please contact us today. #slow #S

Older iMac Upgrade to SSD – Runs Better Than New
