    780TI to 1080TI Graphics Upgrade

This customer wanted the latest and greatest video card for high resolution gaming on a huge monitor so they needed to upgrade their video card. They had a Nvidia 780TI, which was top of the line just a few years ago, but wanted something newer and faster for the latest games and their new, large monitor. They chose the Nvidia 1080TI graphics card as the current champion in high resolution gaming. We replaced the existing card and loaded the updated drivers and patches to ens

8 Yr Old Imac – Runs Better Than New with SSD Upgrade

This iMac was brought to us with the usual issues from a Mac of this age. The user reported that it was running very slow and the fans were loud. They wanted to know if they should spend the money to replace it or was there something that could be done to bring it back to life. The price of a new iMac could range from $1200 to well over $2000 for a top of the line machine. The truth is that most people don’t need the latest and greatest Mac to do the things they need to do on

    Mackeeper Removal and Ram Upgrade

A recent customer reported that their Macbook, though only a few years old, was starting to run slow and had some programs installed that they could not remove.  Although, historically, the Mac has been better at not getting virus infections, malware infestations and nuisance adware type programs, that has changed recently.  OSX is completely capable of getting infected either by a virus, malware, proxy redirect or just about any other issue a PC user would face. In this case

Failed Hard Drive and New Feet for Macbook

This customer had a Macbook that was only a couple years old but had been dropped a few times and had some wear and tear on the outside and inside. As a result, the hard drive had been damaged and refused to boot. The failed hard drive was so badly damaged no data could be recovered directly from the drive. There was also some visible damage on the outside along with a very common problem with Mac laptops, missing feet. We replaced the hard drive with a new solid state drive

    Dell 5588 Laptop Upgrade

This customer brought us a fairly new Dell 5588 laptop that was working fine but was starting to feel a little sluggish. Even a new computer with a fast processor and lots of RAM can feel slow and sluggish due to the old spinning 5400 rpm hard drive.  The hard drive, especially the slow 5400 rpm mechanical drives, are the slowest part of a modern computer and causes most of the bottlenecks that most people experience when using their computer. We upgraded this drive to an SSD

Mac Mini Upgraded – SSD and RAM

This Mac Mini was a couple of years old and was due for some upgrades.  It was working OK, but was bogging down on videos and some common tasks.  We took a look and noticed that the RAM was low for today’s standards and also we could gain a large speed boost by upgrading the hard drive to a new SSD drive. We upgraded the RAM to 8GB of DDR3 laptop style memory and cloned the hard drive over to a new 500 GB solid state drive.  While the original computer came with 4GB of RAM it

Dell Laptop – Bad Hard Drive

This customer brought us a newer Dell laptop that wouldn’t boot into Windows anymore and would only get a blue screen of death.  The blue screen will show you the error that caused the boot issue but will often times be cryptic or cover a wide variety of possible issues.  Through some troubleshooting we can determine if it’s a software issue caused by some corruption or a hardware issue. In this case, the hard drive had physically failed either due to a manufacturing defect o

The user of this laptop was forced into a Windows 10 update and when it completed it would no longer boot into Windows.  The computer would start to boot into the new Windows 10 and would hang for hours on a spinning waiting icon. We were able to clear the update and get the laptop to boot correctly again and repair any damage done by the unwanted Windows 10 upgrade.  Windows 10 works now once any issues had been sorted out with the laptop before the upgrade. We replaced the old standard hard drive with a new solid state hard drive.  This computer used to take over 4 minutes to boot and be ready to use.  With the new drive it boots in less than 30 seconds and it ready to go. Microsoft Forcing Windows 10 Upgrade

Microsoft has recently changed the status of the the upgrade to Windows 10 from an “OPTIONAL” update to “RECOMMENDED”.  This doesn’t mean there is more reason to upgrade than before but it does mean that you may see a confusing prompt that the upgrade to Windows 10 has started. If you get the Windows screen that tells you the upgrade has started (similar to picture below) you will need to decline to keep the upgrade from proceeding.  You will probably get several more prompts
